    By Becca 15Texas      Sunday, January 20, 2008
Eight kids came to Camp Mabry for a two-day Speak out for Military Kids training. The training was held in the Audie Murphy building. SOMK is a program made up of youth Ambassadors, ages 13-17 who travel around the state setting up displays, providing leadership training, abd giving presentations.
On the first day, as kids were arriving to the training, everyone was able to talk to one another and get to know each other.
Also on the first day, they had presentations, games and activities. The kids got a chance to solve ficticious problems comncerning lives that involve someone in the military who will be deployed or is deployed.
For dinner on the first night the whole group of kids and adults were invited to dinner at T.A.G. Quarters and were hosted by Mrs. Cappy Rodriguez. The kids were given a chance to show proper etiquette, in which they were very succesful.
During training the kids were seperated into three groups and given the assignment of making a presentation. Each group chose a different way of making their presentation.
Group one did a puppet show, group two did a power point presentation, while group three did a awareness video.
On day two the kids each gave their presentations and each did a wonderful job. Then the kids were put into pairs and put in charge of an activity time.
Also, throughout the training the kids learned about being a Military kid, and what Operation: military Kids, Speak Out for Military Kids, Operation Huggable, and Operation Heropacks.
