With more than 3 million cases being diagnosed each year, ADHD / ADD is one of the most common medical conditions that restrict the ability to serve in the US military.
There are several medications that are used to treat symptoms of ADHD, and nearly ALL of them are on the military’s do-NOT-take list.
There’s been a surge of new supplements to the market that are reported to help act as natural alternatives to harsh stimulants like Adderall and Vyvanse.
The focus of one such product, called Mind Lab Pro, will be discussed in detail in this review.
Important! This product is NOT intended for those under the age of 18. If you’re under 18 years old, don’t even think about trying it!

What is Mind Lab Pro?
Developed by a company called Opti-Nutra Ltd., Mind Lab Pro is the ‘world’s first universal nootropic’ that claims to boost cognition in a wide range of people.
According to them, it was designed to help increase brainpower for anyone looking for a competitive edge.
These include people like:
- Those looking for an advantage at work
- Athletes looking for an advantage on the playing field
- Students looking to better their own grades and academic achievement
- Gamers looking for a competitive edge
How Does Mind Lab Pro Work?
According to their website, Mind Lab Pro is a ‘universal nootropic’ that’s designed to allow your brain to ‘fire on all cylinders’.
While most supplements are targeted towards a narrow consumer base, this particular one claims to hit all ends of the spectrum.
From the 19 year old college kid who’s looking to better his GPA, to the 75 year old grandmother who’s having a hard time remembering her grand kids birthdays.
It does so via 11 ‘multi-tasking nootropics’ that optimize 6 brain pathways: Energy, Brain chemicals, Blood flow, Brainwaves, Neuroprotection, and Neuroregeneration.
These 6 brain pathways are directly correlated to affecting 4 key areas that affect mental performance.
They are:
1. Improving Memory
Memory can be defined as ‘the faculty by which the mind stores and remembers information’, and is categorized into 5 subsets: Encoding, Storage, Recall, Learning, Test taking.
According to WebMD, short and long-term memory loss is attributed to a wide variety of sources, including:
- Medications
- Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drug use
- Sleep deprivation
- Depression
- Stress
- Nutritional deficiency

Many of the ingredients in Mind Lab Pro are apparently designed, and have been clinically studied to, in essence help with 4 of these issues affecting memory.
They include helping to reduce depression, alleviate stress, improve sleep quality, and supplement nutritional deficiencies.
2. Performance
The ingredients in Mind Lab Pro are also potent performance boosting herbs and extracts.
Your performance, whether it be mental of physical, is influenced by 5 key factors:
- Speed
- Processing
- Attention
- Focus
- Verbal acuity
Factors affecting the above are very similar to those affecting memory, and include stress, depression, fatigue from over training, and sleep disturbances, to name just a few.
Mind Lab Pro is apparently designed to help improve your attention, focus, motivation, and verbal acuity through it’s proprietary blend of all natural ingredients.
3. Mindset
Putting yourself in the right mindset, whether it be in the classroom, the boardroom, or the playing field, is absolutely crucial at helping to determine how well you’ll perform a given task.
Factors affecting mindset include things like:
- Mood balance
- Stress resistance
- Relaxation
- Creativity
- Motivation
If you’re simply not motivated, can’t relax, your mood is off, or you’re feeling stressed, you won’t be able to put yourself in the mindset to succeed.
Many of the ingredients in Mind Lab Pro, including Bacopa Monnieri, L-Theanine, and Citicholine, have a direct effect on helping to put all of the above in balance.
4. Structural
Mind Lab Pro is also apparently designed to work on the structural level to improve things that are generally outside of your control.
They include things like injury-repair, fluid membranes, neurogenesis, anti-aging, and fighting brain degeneration.
It’s no secret that, as we age, the body begins to break down on the cellular level.
Some of the Mind Lab Pro ingredients, most notably Pine Bark extract and Vitamins B6, B9, and B12, work to reverse the effects of aging.

Here’s a snapshot of the ingredients label:
While each ingredient has it’s own purpose, 3 of these really stood out to us.
They are: Citicholine, Phosphatidylserine, and Bacopa Monnieri.
OMK spoke with Maggy Doherty, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, about the science behind these 3 ingredients.
Here’s what she had to say.
Citicoline

Citicoline is a pharmaceutical substance that is chemically identical to the natural intracellular precursor of the phospholipid phosphatidylcholine- an important component of our cell membranes.
“In 1050s, Kennedy and collaborators showed that Citicoline is a precursor of phosphatidylcholine (PC), one of the most important phospholipid of the cell membrane Citicoline is the generic name of cytidine-5’-diphosphocholine (CDP-choline), an endogenous compound that is able to increase the levels of neurotransmitters in the central nervous system by interacting with the synthesis of cellular membranes phospholipids, especially ” (Source)
Citicoline seems beneficial in the treatment of some chronic neurodegenerative diseases, such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and other forms of cognitive decline.
There are numerous research trials support the view that citicoline displays neuroprotective properties.
Clinical Trials Of Citicoline
Citicoline has been clinically studied in a wide variety of trials, including the following:
“It has been shown in several animal models that citicoline improves scoring in learning and memory tests. Likewise, citicoline has been shown to improve memory and other cognitive functions in patients with chronic cerebrovascular disease or dementia and in old people suffering from memory deficit without ” (Source)
“Alvarez et al. revealed in a study performed on 30 patients with Alzheimer’s disease that after 12 weeks of treatment with Citicoline, the cognitive performance increased, and this was more pronounced in patients with mild dementia. It was also an increase of cerebral blood flow velocity and of brain bioelectrical ” (Source)
The drug is non-toxic, has very few adverse side effects, and overall is safe for use.
Phosphatidylserine

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is an endogenous phospholipid and dietary nutrient that is important for the health of cell membranes.
This nutrient has been shown to support human cognitive functions, including the formation of both short-term and long-term memories, ability to create and retrieve memories, loco motor functions, and more cognitive functions.
Clinical Trials of Phosphatidylserine
Clinical trials suggest that phosphatidylserine may play a role in the prevention and treatment of age-associated cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s disease, depression, and other cognitive disorders. (Source)
Since the 1990s, the results of various studies with oral phosphatidylserine supplements suggest cognitive and behavioral improvement in patients with cognitive impairment.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) acknowledges that “supplemental phosphatidylcholine use may reduce the risk of cognitive dysfunction in the elderly.” (Source)
Bacopa Monnieri

Bacopa monnieri (BM) is a medicinal Ayurvedic herb traditionally used for various ailments, but is best known as a neural tonic to improve memory and intelligence.
BM demonstrates potential antioxidant, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective activity, and memory boosting abilities. In the brain, learning and memory action are enhanced by the active constituents of BM.
Clinical Trials of Bacopa Monnieri
“Numerous animal and in vitro studies have been conducted, with many evidencing potential medicinal properties. Several randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials have substantiated BM’s nootropic utility in humans. There is also evidence for potential attenuation of dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and epilepsy.” (Source)
Mind Lab Pro Reviews
Like many supplements in the Nootropic category, reviews of Mind Lab Pro were mixed.
Many of the positive reviews state that the product doesn’t work overnight, and that it can take several weeks for the effects to ‘kick in’.
Here’s a few reviews taken directly from the homepage:
Mind Lab Pro is also endorsed by several influential people, many of which have been featured in mini documentary-like videos on Youtube.
Here’s a few of their stories below:
Nigel Short – Chess Grandmaster
Stephanie Leach – Private Practice Attorney
Tony Newman – Professional White Water Rafting Guide
Now, the bad news.
Looking through some of the Mind Lab Pro reviews on 3rd party sites like Amazon, you had several who reported that it did nothing at all.
Unfortunately, most of the negative reviews did not elaborate on their personal experiences.
It wasn’t uncommon to see limited feedback like:
“Did not work for me”
“Placebo”
‘Doesn’t work”
Without any elaboration on things like how long they took the product, whether or not their took on an empty stomach, other factors in their experimentation, it’s hard to come to a proper conclusion.

My Mind Lab Pro Experiment
Rather then try and rely on these validity reviews, I bought a bottle of Mind Lab Pro for my own personal reasons to give it a shot.
After all, really the only way to find out if it really works is to try it out yourself!
I have to say, after using it for a full month, I am definitely noticing a difference, and in a good way.
While the effects were subtle, I could tell that focusing on otherwise boring tasks became a bit easier.
I was able to recall information faster, and with more accuracy.
What I seemed to notice the biggest effect was on my mood and motivation to get things done.
It took around 2 – 3 weeks for that to kick in, but I found myself able to dive into tasks much easier than before.
I’ve taken plenty of these other so-called ‘nootropics’ in the past, and most of them simply inject a large amount of caffeine into their supplements.
While they worked, they usually left me feeling groggy and tired at the end of the day.
This was not the case with Mind Lab Pro.
It was a very clean, focused energy, without a massive crash.
In fact, some of the best nootropics I’ve ever used usually contain only a very small amount of caffeine.
