About Carowinds
Carowinds was opened in 1973 by a man named Earl Patterson Hall.
After a visit to Disneyland, Hall had a vision of creating a large park that was similar, but represented all there was to love about both North and South Carolina.
He planned for the park to be huge, with attractions such as a hotel and a golf course.
However, after financial struggles and changes in plans, Carowinds is an amusement park, waterpark, and campsite today.
In 2006, it was bought by Cedar Fair and they continue to run the park today.
Though Carowinds is in Charlotte, it technically sits in both North and South Carolina.
It is the only United States amusement park that crosses a state line.
The park has over 60 rides, 14 rollercoasters, a Camp Snoopy kid’s area, and a waterpark that is included in admission price.
It has a variety of restaurants with authentic Carolina foods and live entertainment shows as well.
What Is The Official Carowinds Military Discount?
Carowinds offers a daily military discount, a deal on season tickets, and an annual military appreciation event.

Carowinds Daily Military Discount
The military discount ticket is available online for only $39.99.
Regular online ticket prices vary, but they are typically around $50 depending on the day of the week and park hours for the specific day.
Ticket prices at the gate are usually even more at close to $70 on most days.
If you want to purchase your tickets online, you will need to provide proof of military service through ID.me, an online service that helps companies verify military statuses.

To purchase military discount tickets online:
Step 1: Go to the Carowinds ticket page and add your preferred tickets to your cart.
Step 2: Check “yes” in the lower left hand corner where the page says “Discounts for active / retired military members”
Step 3: You will be redirected to ID.me. Follow ID.me’s steps to verify your military status.
Step 4: You will be redirected back to Carowinds, where you can finish your ticket purchase.
To purchase military discount tickets in person, simply show your valid military ID at the gate when you are making your purchase.
Carowinds Season Ticket Discount
The Carowinds season ticket discount is available through a package called the Military Gold Pass. It provides free park admission for the entire year, and access to all events, early ride times, and discounts just for pass holders.
The Military Gold Pass is available for $83. This can also be put into a payment plan with an initial payment of $11, and 11 more payments of $6.50 each plus taxes and fees.
Normal Gold Passes without the military discount are sold at $107 each.

Carowinds Military Appreciation Event
To continue giving back to those who serve, Carowindes offers an amount of time annually when Military members can enter the park and enjoy the entertainment for free.
This event is typically over three weekends in November, but it could always change in future years.
If you want to attend Carowind’s free Military Appreciation event, be sure to watch their advertisements to see when the event will take place.
To attend, simply go to the park and show a valid military ID instead of a ticket at the front gate.
If you’d like to bring family members with you, you can purchase tickets for them at the discounted military price online before you arrive.
Who Can Claim This Deal?
All of these deals can be claimed by all service members, both current and past.
This includes members of all five branches in Active Duty, Reserves, and the National Guard.
It includes service members who are retired and medically or honorably discharged as well.
Unlike other discounts, these deals can even be used by members of the Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC).
For the military appreciation event, military discount tickets can be purchased for military family members as well.
What Are The Restrictions?
These deals do not have many restrictions.
The free tickets are only available during the advertised Military Appreciation Event each year.
