According to their website, the first Kohl’s was opened in Wisconsin in 1962.
The company quickly expanded from there and by 1992 had 76 locations.
They introduced kohls.com in 2001 and expanded to the California market in 2003, making their presence on both coasts.

They are a go-to for getting good deals on clothing, shoes, and household goods.
Kohl’s Military Discount
Recently Kohl’s introduced a Military Discount of 15% that can be used on Mondays, in-store only.

The discount is a result of a push for a discount from store leaders and members of the Kohl’s Veterans Business Resource Group.
In addition to the push for a Military Discount, Kohl’s has also had associate volunteers at events that specifically benefit military causes.
There were 250 events benefiting 230 organizations in 2018 alone.
Kohl’s has noted the discount is a way of thanking members for their sacrifice.
Kohl’s offers the discount to active military, veterans, retirees and immediate family members.

To use the discount, you must make your purchase in-store and present valid Military ID when checking out.
Valid forms of ID listed include:
- Military Identification Card
- State-Issued Identification indicating veteran status
- Form DD 214
Besides the ability to only purchase items in-store on Mondays, other restrictions include not being able to combine it with other discounts, including Kohl’s cash, and not being able to use it on certain merchandise or brands.

Other Ways to Save with Kohl’s
Besides the Military Discount on Mondays, OMK was able to find a 4 other ways to save at Kohl’s.
1. Save with Kohl’s Cash
Kohl’s Cash is similar to a rewards program, but does not have points that are transferred to rewards.
You shop online or in-store during a Kohl’s Cash earn period and you will receive $10 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend.
You can earn it on any product.
After you make the purchase you will receive a coupon at the check-out or via email if shopping online.
You can register for a kohls.com account online here and it will track your Kohl’s cash for you.
The Kohl’s Cash can be redeemed on any item in the store during the redemption time period.
With no product restrictions, really your only limiting factor is to ensure you time the shopping and redemption dates correctly.

2. Coupons/Promotion Codes
Kohl’s is great at offering and accepting coupons and promotion codes for both in-store and online use.
Their website has a coupon/deals page that lists current Kohl’s sales, coupons and promotion codes.
They also allow you to stack up to 4 different promotion codes such as free shipping and product discounts on a single transaction online.
3. Save When You Sign Up For Emails
You can receive a 15% off coupon when you sign up for emails.

You will receive email alerts about other offers, promotion codes and sales, so keep that in mind when registering.
4. Save with Yes2You Rewards
Yes2You rewards allows you to earn points when making purchases any day of the week.
You can earn 1 point for every 1 dollar spent, and on the first of the month you will receive a $5 reward for every 100 points earned.
You have 30 days to redeem your reward on any Kohl’s product.
You will also receive a birthday gift and can do certain things such as downloading the Kohl’s app to receive bonus points.
