About Foot Locker

Foot Locker was brought to life through the merging of two large companies, F.W. Woolworth Company and the Kinney Shoe Corporation, in 1963.

This merge was then split into three separate shoe companies in 1974, one of which was Foot Locker.

Since its founding in 1974, Foot Locker has flourished.

The company has spread significantly and now holds the store names of Champs Sports, Eastbay, CCS, Footactions, Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, and Lady Foot Locker.

The majority of these are typical stores, but Champs Sports is a mall-based franchise and Eastbay is a direct-order supplier that sells athletic apparel through their website and printed magazines.

When Foot Locker was first introduced to the world, it had a unique role.

In 1974, the only types of sneakers that were available to purchase were tennis shoes, basketball shoes, and running shoes.

No other types of sneakers were on the market, and Foot Locker saw this as an opening.

They started their stores on the idea that there should be specialized shoes for each individual sport, and that these shoes should be available to anyone who would like to utilize them.

Through this idea, Foot Locker played a key role in inventing and providing sneakers for a wide array of activities.

The Foot Locker company now provides shoes and clothing for many sports and activities including basketball, volleyball, football, running, walking, and more.

They sell a fair share of professional sports team fan items as well, such as jerseys and other team shirts.

Today, Foot Locker stores are found in 27 countries with over 3,200 in-store locations and a home office in New York City. (Check out their store locator here)

They can, of course, be accessed online and through smartphone applications as well.

Each of their subdivision stores has a smartphone application that is available on both iOS and Android devices.

Foot Locker’s current company goal is to stay at “the heart of the sneaker community.”

They boast that they are both passionate and enthusiastic about shoes. They continue striving to provide athletic shoes and apparel that is both high-performing and stylish.

They also stay true to their beginnings in America by showing appreciation and gratitude to their home country’s military members.

Who Can Claim This Discount?

The Foot Locker military discount is available for any current members of the National Guard, Reserves, or Active Duty.

For those who are serving in the military currently, you can use this discount code as long as you are able to provide some sort of proof that you were in the military.

The military discount is also available to retired members of the military and direct dependents of active duty military members.

These two groups of people need to be able to provide proof for verification of eligibility as well.

This means that military dependents need to be officially registered in order to use the discount.

The Foot Locker website does not mention if parents of military members are able to take advantage of this discount.

This question could be asked to the cashier for in-person purchases. The decision may be left up to their discretion.

For online purchases, consider talking to customer support.

It is likely that parents are not eligible for the discount since they are not listed on the website.

The Foot Locker website also does not mention if members of the military who were dishonorably discharged are able to use the discount.

The answer is probably no, since this group of people are also not listed as eligible on the site.

However, it would not hurt to ask the cashier or customer support. Remember that in store, this discretion may be left up to the cashier.

Are There Any Restrictions?

The Foot Locker military discount does have a few restrictions.

First of all, it is not able to be combined with other offers.

This means if you have a larger coupon code for a Foot Locker deal, you won’t be able to add your 15% off military discount on top of it.

You will only want to use this discount when it is the option that provides the largest amount of savings.

Foot Locker often offers discount codes such as $20 off a $100 purchase or free shipping, so you’ll want to do a little math before making a purchase to ensure that the coupon you choose will give you the best deal.

Certain products are also excluded from the discount.

The items that are excluded from the discount are not clearly listed on Foot Locker’s website.

After doing a little digging, here are just a few shoe brands and models that are included in the military discount:

  • Nike Kyrie 5
  • Nike Air Force 1
  • Under Armour Curry 6
  • Under Armour Spawn Low
  • Adidas Harden Vol. 3
  • Adidas N3XT L3V3L

And some items that are NOT included in the military discount include:

    • Nike Zoom KD12
    • Nike PG 3
    • Jordan Why Not Zer0.2 SE
    • Nike Zoom Freak
    • Nike Kobe IV Protro
    • Nike Lebron
    • Jordan AJ

Note that this list is not exhaustive, and is only representative of some of the items that you may find included or excluded.

Customer Care reports that the ineligible products are chosen by the manufacturer, not by Foot Locker.

This means that Foot Locker cannot provide many details on what is included in the discount and what is not.

To find out if a product can be purchased with the discount, you can ask a cashier at an in-person store or check the item’s sale page online.

If a product cannot be discounted, it will have a code that says “Excluded From Discount” on its product page just below the “Add to Cart” button.

Many brands of shoes are often excluded from the military discount.

This is nonnegotiable since it’s a choice made by the item’s manufacturer.
