About Vans

Vans was started by two brothers named Paul and Jim Van Doren in 1966.

They started making shoes under the name “The Van Doren Rubber Company.”

On their first day of business, they made and sold twelve pairs of shoes to their local customers in Anaheim, California.

By the 1970’s, the shoes from the company started gaining popularity among skateboarders.

They liked how the bottoms of the shoes were sticky, as well as the style the shoes were made with.

The skateboarding community caused the shoes to rise in popularity at an extremely quick rate, and Vans shoes became a household name shortly thereafter.

Today, Vans has over 300 stores across the United States, and their shoes are even more popular online and from third-part retailers.

They’re often worn by skateboarders as well as the general public.
