Army Small Arms/Artillery Repairer (MOS 91F) is responsible for keeping a variety of weapons operating properly.
These weapon types include small arms, field artillery, large ballistic missiles, and towed artillery.
A Small Arms/Artillery Repairer will perform both field and sustained maintenance of all small arms weapons.
Qualifications and Training
To enter into this MOS, recruits must receive at least a score of 93 on the General Maintenance (GM) portion of the ASVAB, or a combination of 88 on the General Maintenance and 85 on the General Technical.
Training for this position includes 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training.
Once soldiers successfully complete Basic Combat Training, they will then attend Advanced Individual Training for 7 weeks at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia.

What Does a Small Arms/Artillery Repairer Do?
Small Arms/Artillery Repairers use electronic and mechanical principles to repair firearms.
These specialized soldiers will be required to understand and use schematics, drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to complete their work.
This position is best for someone who has patience and attention to detail, as it can take time and a keen eye to find the issue.
Safety is important when working on firearms, and soldiers in this position must follow all safety procedures when handling a weapon.
Soldiers in this MOS will use electronic, electrical, and mechanical test equipment to find an issue.
They will use precision tools to complete repairs.
They will be trained on and must be familiar with each type of weapon.
Weapon examples include 9MM pistols, M4 rifles, M9, shotguns, machine guns, sniper rifles, mortars, and towed artillery pieces.
Small Arms/Artillery Repairers not only complete repairs on firearms, they also test and operate the firearms.
Common issues include firing, recoil, and loading problems.
Repairers may check tolerance or wear on the barrel.
On other systems, soldiers may fix elevation systems, travel locks or work with other teams to fix issues such as suspension systems.
In a field setting, soldiers who work out of a vehicle will be required to maintain the vehicle and all tools inside.
This position requires individuals to be familiar with all types of equipment and may require additional training as the equipment is updated or new equipment is issued.
